I am having trouble sending a private message to someone. When I try to send my private message, all I get is a message saying there is an error and my private message cannot be sent. The user I am trying to send a private message to does not have me on their ignore list. Is anyone else having problems sending private messages? I am not quite sure why I am not able to send private messages. Any advice or feedback in regards to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
What kind of error do you get? Is it a page cannot be found, or an actual zone error page?
Sometimes it matters how the message is written as well.
Like if it's too long, for example.
The private message was rather short compared to the last private message I was able to send to this person. The error message appeared on the Zone website, and said nothing more than an error occured and the private message could not be sent. I also had the append signiture box unchecked as I always do. But for some reason, my private message could not be sent. I find this to be rather odd. I have never had any problems like this before.

yes, odd indeed. especially when it appears to only happen with a particular user. I am not completely sure why my private message to this individual does not go through when the user does not appear on my ignore list.
The user might have private quick notes blocked.
The user will not appear on your ignore list, but will have message or private messages off.
Normally, you receive a message saying so.
I've not tried to send a message to anyone blocking them, so don't know if you still get that message currently.
Send them a private mail message and ask them.
Apparently you do not understand my problem. I do not have any problems sending quick notes to anyone. However, I am having a problem sending a private mail message to a particular individual. This person is not ignoring me, so I do not understand why my private mail message cannot be sent. I have no idea what is going on, but I am not quite sure what more I can do in regards to this situation.
I'm not really surprised. it's the zone, after all. It's falling apart, slowly but surely. Most of the code is really old.

You said a "private message, not a private mail message.
So, in that case, send the user a "private message next time she or he's logged on?
I personally have no issues sending either type.
Maybe if the user you are wishing to contact has Skype, they may be listed on the users with Skype list.
In that event, send him, or her a Skype message.
No, you don't have to be on that users Skype list.
Might have Twitter listed in the profile too.
Maybe that user logs on and chats in publics, so get on publics, and ask that user to go private and exchange information.
And just, just maybe, asking your friendly CL to send that user a hello message on your behalf so that user will know you wish to contact him or her, sense she or he's not blocking you, might get your message out that you wish to talk.

While I still do not understand why my private mail messages were not going through, I have been able to find a solution to my problem. When my private mail messages were not being sent, I was trying to respond to a private mail message someone had sent me by using the respond link in the message. So I thought I would try sending a new message to this person instead of clicking on the respond link in the message to see if I received a different result. Sending a new message fixed my problem, and I thought I would share this information in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

Bumping this topic up to say that I am having the same problem as the person who started this topic. Except, I am unable to send even a new private mail message to a particular user, when just a day or so ago things were working like a charm.
